Evelyn + Colby are the sweetest couple, and are so completely, completely in love. I first met Evelyn over the phone, and as she described the vision for her wedding day, I couldn’t imagine not being there to capture it. They had a night-time, bohemian wedding at Hotel Emma in San Antonio, Texas.
It was deeply romantic, unique, and stylish.
From chatting with Evelyn on the phone about her wedding plans, I knew that she was very stylish. I loved everything she had to say about the vision for her wedding. When I met her in person, though, I quickly realized that she’s not only stylish, but fantastic as well.
She’s a stylist by trade, so it came as no surprise that she was effortlessly put together. I learned that Evelyn had raised her son in lieu of dating, focusing her attention on him and her career. When he was older and went off to college, she decided to get back out there, and joined an online dating site.
That’s where she met Colby. When I first saw them together, I was struck by how opposite they were. They make such a lovely couple. Colby is very down to earth and has a strong country accent. He’s sweet as could be. Evelyn + Colby are absolutely in love, and seeing them so happy on their wedding day was so incredible.

Evelyn picked out all of Colby’s attire for the wedding, from his velvet suit to his bowtie. She has a very bohemian sense of style, and chose the most lovely details for herself. She wore a cape dress and bridal hat, and opted for a floral crown during the ceremony that was just stunning.
The other details were so well put together, from the bright blue cake, to the little bottles of Maker’s Mark, to the large palm fronds and florals at the reception.
Once a 19th century brewhouse, Hotel Emma is a San Antonio gem. It’s located on the river downtown, and has so many interesting and charming features. Evelyn + Colby’s ceremony was stunning. They used a simple wooden triangle arch, vintage rugs, fluffy palm fronds, and the results were incredible.
David Garcia of San Antonio florist Statue of Design created all of the stunning florals, and he succeeded in creating a bohemian dreamscape.
Sweet August Events put together the unique styling and decor. They used rattan peacock chairs and a vintage rug at the head table, and had little bottles of Maker’s Mark with hand stamped name tags as favors.
After dinner, I snuck Evelyn + Colby away to take some portraits of the two of them. Evelyn grabbed an authentic Mexican blanket to wrap around them. We stopped in front of a darkly painted wall, and the dramatic lighting made for the coolest photos! After cutting the blue cake and pausing briefly to take in the Christmas trees lit up outside, the guests gathered around the newly married couple for a fun sparkler exit.
This was no ordinary sparkler exit, though. This was a joyous, classy, and triumphant end to an insanely beautiful evening. I’m so happy I got to be a part of Evelyn + Colby’s journey to find one another. They are so absolutely, profoundly in love, and I couldn’t be more happy that they found each other.
